Adam Lucio and I chased down to Litchfield, IL yesterday, sat
there and shot the breeze with Andrew Pritchard for a while. Nothing
happened so we called it a chase and headed back north to SPI. Well
once we hit Springfield a cell back to our south popped up and we
decided to get off at the Elkhart exit and blast east through Mt.
Pulaski until we hit Decatur with a chance at a possible intercept. Some good driving by Adam allowed us to beat the storm to our target. On the way to Decatur we intercepted this
cell near Latham with some CG and torrential rain.
The storm we had targeted from south Springfield finally met up
with us in Decatur. Torrential rains, a brief pocket of pea sized hail,
a lot of CC-CG, and gusty winds greeted us on the west side of town. It was done and over with
in 10 minutes and the cold air moved in behind to put the icing on the cake.
Overall it was a fun chase. 510 miles a little over 10 hours with 2 good intercepts.
